While some of you are practicing your jumper and resting up for the PFK 3 Point Shot, others are already heavily involved with the unique events run by the fund.
Since January 13, the Renegades Pitch for Kids Fund has been hosting the Sweet 16 Bowling League at the Holiday Bowl in Wappingers Falls every Wednesday night. But like everything the Pitch for Kids does, the league is unlike the other leagues that take place at the Holiday Bowl.
“Everyone is just having a lot of fun,” said AJ Forest, Manager of the alley, “It’s more laid back then our other leagues but still competitive, just not cut throat.”
Pitch for Kids has added their own spin to the league by adding the “Seventh Inning Stretch,” where bowlers who get a strike during the seventh frame are entered in a raffle to win a 42” LCD television, which will be given away at the end of the league in May. A 50/50 Raffle and High Game Pot add more opportunities for league participants to win.
The Renegades Pitch for Kids Fund and the Holiday Bowl have been partners on an annual Bowl-A-Thon on Halloween, and they look to put on more short season leagues together. Forest thinks the partnership works so well because Pitch for Kids provide great entertainment to the bowlers and they all come out because they know the money goes to a good cause.
